Merritt Beason and Brooke Nuneviller Break Down in Tears After Narrow 2026 MLV Championship Defeat in Post‑Match Presser

Omaha Supernova players Brooke Nuneviller and Merritt Beason broke down in the recent post-match conference after the MLV finals when asked to reflect on the season that saw them rise from the middle berth to the very top, which took them to the finals. Despite the heartbreaking loss, the two stars displayed startling composure and heavily focused on the memorable moments shared by the entire team throughout the play.

The Major League Volleyball championship has just come to an end, where a tight-knit volleyball game dubbed “Match for a Million” was put on display at the Comerica Center, which featured a showdown between Dallas Pulse and Omaha Supernovas. Dallas has managed to secure a narrow win of 3-2 and bagged a record $1M in prize money. Despite the loss, Brooke Nuneviller and Merritt Beason left behind a mark of their own with their respective kills and six-rotation versatility.

During the post-match conference, both players seemed emotionally upset and spoke about their own joyful camaraderie despite a season ending with adversity. Beason highlighted the support received from the bench, who cheered on throughout the game, which propelled the supernovas with great energy.

“This team is a lot of joy, and we play best when we are playing with joy and the bench is the prime example of that. I’ve never been part of a team where I could look at the bench or look at each position group and know, like oh that girl is cheering for the person who’s in the role that she wishes she was in,” said Beason.

Brooke Nuneviller also broke down when it came her turn to reflect on a bumpy season, which she described as one of the most gifted seasons ever, that helped prove the worthiness of the Supernovas as one of the premier teams that sticks together regardless of the outcomes.

“I can just look at everything and just be so thankful. I can genuinely look everyone in the eye this season, and we had faith and the talent to out team any team and we stayed together during every match,” she said.

Brooke further added that her hope is for every sports fan to know that the Supernovas, regardless of their record, put talent and the individual first, and highlighted the importance of sticking together while reminding the viewers of having zero regrets about being with Omaha.

Omaha Supernovas Interim Coach Expresses Gratitude While Echoing Statements of Brooke Nuneviller

The Supernovas’ interim coach, Thomas Robson, took to the press conference and spoke about the positivity that has long surrounded the Supernovas with a tight rope, unwilling to wail off. He highlighted how the MLV final was just another reflection of the basic nature of sport, which includes wins and defeats, while highlighting his decision to go through the day as usual to help maintain happiness.

“I’m a very positive coach, so these tears are just gratitude for being on this team. That’s the sport of volleyball; sometimes you’re going to be at the end of it and you can let that define you. We were determined and put in the work and knew we were going to be here today. Win or lose, I’m gonna continue to go about my day and just enjoy the next evening with this group cuz we did not just become a team after a win or lose,” said Robson (0:35).

The Supernovas have built a legacy of being the only team to have reached the postseason stage every year of MLV and are expected to come back with the same grit to carve a new statement on the court.
