Madison Chock shared a heartfelt message for her husband and skating partner, Evan Bates, after their Winter Olympics campaign. The couple stunned the fans with their impressive outing in Milan.
Chock and Bates competing in Milan was their fourth overall Olympic appearance, and it was the first one as a married couple. They opened the campaign by participating in the team event, where they made a significant contribution in driving their team toward the gold medal.
They performed in rhythm dance and free dance, where they scored 91.06 and 133.23, respectively. With this, they earned 20 massive points from the ice dancing area.
Moving further in the Games, they won a silver medal in the free dance event after being edged out by French contenders Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron. Days after concluding the Olympics campaign, Chock showered her husband with love on his birthday with a heartwarming wish on social media.
Chock posted a picture of her husband on Instagram and added a sweet caption that read:
“Wishing the happiest birthday to my handsome husband! You continue to inspire those around you with your dedication, humility, and curiosity. After wrapping up a successful campaign in Milan, Evan Bates was honored with the position of the flag bearer of the Olympics’ closing ceremony alongside captain of the US women’s hockey team Hilary Knight.
The ice dancer received this news through his wife and dancing partner, Madison Chock, who made the announcement in front of their US teammates, including Alysa Liu, Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, and more. She delivered a heartfelt speech, saying:
“I’m so, so honored to be part of this team. You guys are all so wonderful. And I think I can speak for Evan and myself when I say we are all so proud of everything you guys have accomplished and the people that you are and the people that you’ve become to be here today. So it’s my great honor to share this experience with you, and now that we’ve had such a wonderful week, I want to present Evan with something. You have been selected as the closing flagbearer,” Madison Chock said.
Following this news, Evan Bates quickly hugged Chock, showing his excitement about his role at the closing ceremony. The ceremony took place on February 22 at the historic Verona Arena.
