    UCLA’s Katelyn Rosen Honors Alysa Liu With a Figure Skating Celebration vs. Illinois.

    UCLA gymnast Katelyn Rosen recently paid homage to the American figure skater, Alysa Liu, during her showdown against Illinois. Liu solidified her name on the Olympic stage by earning a historic win at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

    “Alysa Liu I’m your biggest fan,” wrote Rosen on X.

    Liu earned a gold medal in the free skate figure skating final segment on Thursday, February 19, in Milan. With this win, she became the first American woman in 24 years to win a gold medal in figure skating area. She won hearts with her charm on the stage, and one of her fans among many is the UCLA gymnast, Rosen.

    The latter is currently competing in the 2026 NCAA season, where her team’s latest matchup was against the Illinois women’s gymnastics team. During this showdown, Rosen delivered a beam performance, and at its end, she did a figure skating rotation as a tribute to Liu. The Big Ten Network shared a video of this moment, which attracted Rosen’s attention, and she admitted to being the figure skater’s biggest fan.

    Liu also won a gold medal in the team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

    After producing a commanding performance in the free skate segment at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Alysa Liu sat for a press conference, where she fielded questions surrounding the ins and outs of her gold medal win. Reflecting on the performance, she said that it was her dream to skate like this on the biggest stage. Exuding gratitude for the opportunity, she said:

    “Being able to do it my way on the big stage like this has been my dream, and I got to do it in my short, I got to do it in the team event, and I got to do it tonight for the free skate, and I’m going to do it again for the Olympic Gala, so I don’t know, I’m just like over the moon. I’m the luckiest girl ever, and yeah, I’m really grateful,” said Alysa Liu.

    She further opened up about the joy and calm that she adds to her skating.

    “I guess the thing is I love what I like to share about myself is like my story and my art, my creative process, and I guess messing up doesn’t take away from that. It’s still something. It’s still a story, you know, a bad story is still a story, and I think that’s beautiful, so there’s no way to lose,” she added.

    Alysa Liu recently received a sweet message from the former gymnast Aly Raisman.
