Jordan Adams created history when he decided to run the 2026 London Marathon with a 25 kg fridge tied to his back. This symbol of endurance quickly gained attention from the thousands who lined up on the streets of London. As this became the most talked-about moment, Adams revealed the reason behind the stunt that carried a heavier burden than the appliance strapped to his back.
He is currently on the road to run 32 marathons in 32 days and is doing so with a goal beyond podium glory.
Adams carried the fridge as a symbol of the burden that every person walks around with after losing their loved ones in a tragic medical condition that leaves behind a whirlpool of sorrow that’s stubborn enough to linger even after people expect the bereaved to move on. The reason stems back to 15 years of emotional trauma that the Adams brothers had to endure since losing their mother to frontotemporal dementia.
Frontotemporal dementia is a medical condition that slowly degenerates the brain’s frontal and temporal lobes. It impacts thinking and behavioral patterns and makes it difficult to function normally, leading to drastic personality changes and ultimately results in death through secondary complications.
The fridge run is purely to raise awareness about frontotemporal dementia, and unfortunately, both brothers have inherited the same gene, which means that they, too, can be victims of the condition later on in life.
Jordan Adams has vowed to continue running the next 32 marathons with every bit of grit possible, even if it takes keeping the fridge glued to his back. He also highlighted the symbolic move as a tribute to every person who has lost someone to dementia.
Jordan Adams Talks About His Mission to Raise 1 Million for Dementia Research
Jordan Adams was seen running with a 25-kilo fridge on his back, meant as an awareness call for people to understand the devastating impact that dementia can leave behind. The mission has now spilled over to something even more important, which is set to bring the medical community into the front line of a race to bring a decisive cure to this life-threatening condition.
Adams recently spoke about his mission to raise 1 million in funds for medical practitioners to engage in an extensive dementia study that will help find the best possible cure through breakthrough research in early gene therapy.
He spoke about how important it is to get this done quickly, as the brothers are already entangled with the genetic issue and see only a 15-20-year possibility to make it happen from their end.
After the London race, Jordan was also seen emotionally embracing his brother with the fridge still tied to his back.
