Bo Bassett and Jax Forrest have shone bright at the past US Open event, winning more than just praise and medals. They have solidified themselves as the most successful collegiate wrestlers of modern times and gave a sneak peek into their upcoming summer schedule that lists a series of endeavors bound to take the two prodigies to new heights.
The US Open 2026 saw power-packed action across multiple weight classes, with the top prospects holding on to their elite profile of dominance. While Forrest faced a rare setback during the semifinals, Bo Bassett tore his way through the finals by beating Joey McKenna 10–0 at the 65 kg finals.
Both Bassett and Forrest have dropped major updates on their road to the World’s, highlighting all the challenges that they might possibly encounter.
Bassett heads to Ohio next for the U20 Trials, and a win would help him secure a spot in the U20 lineup for the August event. His path also includes an important stop at the Final X event on June 19, followed by the U20 Pan Ams in Brazil and the U23 World Championships October showdown in Las Vegas.
With a double win at the US Open, Bassett now targets the senior and world teams, and the sole target remains to win the best-of-three series in each group.
Jax Forrest, despite his US Open upset, has defied the setback by declaring how his love for wrestling goes beyond winning and losing, making it certain that his road to redemption is already underway.
Forrest has just three weeks at hand to bring his very best to the upcoming 2026 World Team Trials Challenge in Kentucky. Unlike Bassett, Forrest has to prove his pedigree through the upcoming event to earn his place at the Final X.
Bo Bassett Writes About His Love for Christian Faith
Bo Bassett has declared his love for his religion and often talks about his faith and the level of discipline and love that he has been able to attain through his passion for the Almighty.
While mentioning his summer schedule, like every public interaction, Bassett started by thanking the Almighty and highlighted how it’s God that defines him as a person.
“First of All Praise The Lord!!! In victory or in defeat. The outcome doesn’t define me, He does. There is a freedom in surrendering the outcome to the Lord and controlling what you can control. My job is the input, and God’s job is the output! All Glory To God,” Bassett wrote.
Bassett has continued being vocal on his love for the Christian faith, but also credited his close support system for his success, which includes his father, whom he calls his greatest friend, and his fellow teammates.
