Figure skater Ilia Malinin made a heartwarming gesture right after bagging his third straight world title by donating the gifts he had received to the local kindergartens of Prague, Czech Republic. Fans showered the “Quad God” with love after his championship victory and celebrated through and through in front of the camera.
The 2026 World Figure Skating Championships came to an end, and along with it, concluded the 2025-26 figure skating season. Malinin secured a gold medal in both the rhythm dance and the free skate segment.
After the win, Malinin shared the podium with his fellow competitors. During the celebratory moment, fans around cheered loudly and tossed stuffed animals towards Malinin and the other competitors. The skaters also jumped in and started waving the toys towards the camera; however, they later donated them to the kindergarten kids of Prague.
The toys were well-packed in a sack and were about to be sent to the addresses of the local kindergartens. This gesture was met with wide acclaim, with fans and fellow athletes praising the championship deed as a gesture of giving back.
Ilia Malinin has ended his 2025-26 figure skating season, which saw him bag a gold medal for Team USA, though he fell short on getting one for himself in the free skate final. That moment has now shifted to victory and has paved an optimistic road ahead for the Olympian’s 2027 season.
Ilia Malinin is Grateful for the Historical Loss
Ilia Malinin, during an interview after the 2026 Milano-Cortina loss, spoke about how losing in general or at a magnifying stage, such as the Olympics, leaves behind a trail of influential feedback that could be used to revamp one’s game plan to great heights.
The Olympian said his previous loss helped him come back better and stronger and be prepared for what’s ahead.
“You learn more from losing than from winning, so I think I can come back better and stronger and know what I was up against and one thing takes me through another and just know next time for the better what’s gonna happen,” he said.
Malinin is set to appear at the 2026 Stars on Ice Japan Tour, alongside his fellow Olympic Ice dancers.
