When Harper Murray opened up about joining the Nebraska volleyball team
Before the start of the 2025 NCAA volleyball season, Harper Murray sat for a conversation with Hail Varsity in August 2025 and discussed multiple topics surrounding the Nebraska volleyball team. During the interview, she was asked if she ever thought that she would end up at Nebraska.
While answering the question, she shared her journey, revealing that she never knew how big volleyball was; however, she always knew that she wanted to join the Huskers. Further, she spoke about how Jordan Larson played a huge role in her career and how Nebraska is the best option for girls to play for the national team. She said:
“Again, like I think over time, I didn’t realize how big volleyball was and how big it um specifically how big it was in Nebraska. And of course, as I’ve gotten older and volleyball’s grown, I’ve seen it more and more. But I think I always knew I wanted to be here. And of course there were other schools that caught my eye at the time, but I really think that it was Jordan Larson. Like she obviously wasn’t a coach here at the time, but she was always the volleyball player that I idolized growing up,” said Harper Murray.
She added:
“So that also played a huge role in it. They have a bunch of Olympians growing up. Every girl wants to play for the national team. Every girl wants to play overseas and play professional volleyball. And Nebraska has the best pipeline, in my opinion, the best pipeline for that. So there were a lot of different factors that played into that, but the people were definitely what made me choose here.”
Harper Murray and her Nebraska volleyball teammates recently went to cheer for the Huskers basketball team.
