After a historical performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Eileen Gu is now all set to make heads turn at the 2026 Milan Fashion Week. She recently opened up about her excitement to explore the new avenues outside of her sport.
Gu stunned her fans with her impressive outing in Milan-Cortina, where she etched her name in history books by becoming the first woman to defend her title in the freeski halfpipe event. She stood atop the podium after earning 94.75 points following her final run, besting Li Fanghui and Zoe Atkin, who attained the second and third places, respectively.
In addition to this, Gu also won two silver medals in the women’s slopestyle and big air events. Apart from skiing, Gu is now scheduled to make an appearance at Milan Fashion Week. In a media conversation, the Olympic champion revealed that she is excited to explore opportunities in the fashion world.
“It’s fashion week in Milan. I have the other job, the other fashion thing. “I’m really excited to just explore some other avenues, be creative, and explore my femininity through fashion, which is something I’ve always loved, and to kind of put that in juxtaposition with skiing and with sports. And I think they co-exist so beautifully, and so I hope to represent that next week in Milan,” said Eileen Gu.
Following her Olympic gold medal win, Gu opened up about the heartbreaking news of her grandmother’s death.
Eileen Gu made her feelings known about her historic gold medal win at the 2026 Winter Olympics
In a conversation with Olympics.com, Eileen Gu opened up about her gold medal win at the 2026 Milan-Cortina. Revealing how special her achievement was for her, she said that she was the only girl on the ski team until she was 15 years old, and now becoming the most decorated free ski athlete with six Olympic medals is a very special journey for her.
“I can’t put it into words. It’s such a special feeling for me. I grew up in a male-dominated sport. I was the only girl on my ski team until I was 15 years old, and so today to stand here before you and be able to say that I am the most gold medal-holding freeski athlete ever, male or female, and most decorated freeski athlete, male or female, is pretty surreal,” Eileen Gu said.
The 22-year-old further reflected on consecutively winning six medals in the quadrennial event, saying:
“To medal six times consecutively – it’s no joke. It’s really hard to do it once, and to do it three weeks back-to-back biologically, my adrenaline, the sleep schedule, the adrenaline. I had morning events, I had night events. I had no days off. I was the only person competing in three finals. So I think to just show up for myself every day and give quite literally 110 per cent every single day for this entire Olympic cycle has been so special.”
Eileen Gu, who is also a student at Stanford University, recently impressed her fans with a deep conversation about neuroplasticity in the press conference.
