American gymnast Claire Pease took home the individual women’s all-around gold medal at the 2026 Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro. Pease finished ahead of her teammate Charleigh Bullock with 54.498 points to win the gold.
Pease, 17, helped Team USA win gold on Wednesday before claiming the individual all-around title a day later. She proudly stood at the top of the podium, sharing the space with fellow American Bullock and Brazil’s Thais Fidelis.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s home hope Rebeca Andrade returned to action for the first time since Paris 2024. She competed only on the vault and finished first in the qualifying round with 14.533 points, earning a place in Sunday’s apparatus final.
The six-time Olympic medalist shared an emotional post on Instagram, reflecting on her comeback and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent her home country.
“I’m back to the place where I learned to dream, to fall, to rise, and to believe. Returning to competitions is never just about running series or winning results. It’s about finding who I am again. It’s about remembering why I started, why I continue, and why I love being here so much. The road wasn’t always easy. There were days of doubt, fatigue, and obstacles. But there was also faith, work, discipline, and people who were with me at every step of this journey.”
She continued:
“Yesterday I entered the competition with a heart full of gratitude. Grateful to be able to do what I love, represent my country, my history, and everything I’ve built over the years. Regardless of the outcome, I was already celebrating this moment because coming back is an act of courage.”
Andrade further thanked her team for their support and shared a photo compilation from the event capturing the legendary gymnast performing her routines and posing with her teammates.
