“It Was Chaos” – Amber Glenn Details Wild All-Night Gold Medal Celebration with Alysa Liu & Team at Winter Olympics 2026

The U.S. figure skating team, featuring Ilia Malinin, Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, Ellie Kam, Danny O’Shea, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates, won the gold medal in the 2026 Winter Olympics figure skating team event. The U.S. figure skating team defended its title in the dramatic match against Japan. Glenn finished third in her performance and helped Team USA over Japan by one point.

After defending the team event title at the Games, Glenn, Liu, Ellie Kam, and O’Shea joined Today’s Show to talk about their gold medal victory and the wild celebrations that followed. Glenn detailed the celebrations extended till the morning hours of the following day.

“It was chaos,” Glenn said. “Honestly, afterwards, so many things ensued. I know I was in the arena for about another two hours, so we didn’t leave until the early hours of the morning. But afterwards, we all got some rest, and now we’re here, which is absolutely incredible.”

Glenn also shared her gratitude towards the team, saying:

“Absolutely incredible. And I’m just so grateful for this team. They all put their heart and souls out there on the ice. And I’m just so happy to have been part of this.

Amber Glenn Not Satisfied With Her Performance

Team USA registered a score of 69 via four events, including ice dance, pair skating, women’s single skating and men’s single skating. The close nature of the finish demanded a wild celebration.

Amber Glenn scored 138.62, good enough for third place finish and eight team points. Glenn was extremely disappointed as she didn’t give a strong performance.

“I feel guilty. My team has done so well and my performance was lackluster,” she told reporters. “I scored lower than my median in what they were counting on, and I placed lower than what would have been expected… I made a few too many mistakes.”

Glenn has been making headlines for speaking out against the treatment the LGBTQ+ community faces inthe  USA. She has admitted that she has received death threats as well after she shared her uneasiness with the current Donald Trump administration. After she won in the team event, she said:

“I couldn’t believe the outlandish backlash I received for just supporting people,” she said. “Of course, I have people supporting me, and I’m not online right now because of it, but I’m gonna keep speaking my truth. I’m gonna keep representing what I believe in and what I think all Americans believe in, which is freedom and being able to love and do what you want. So, I just I hope we can keep going forward and be positive.”

Glenn acknowledged that because of the kind of comments she has been receiving, the three-time U.S. champion has limited her activity on social media.
