Alysa Liu recently reacted to Connor Storrie making an unusual praise over her Winter Olympics appearance with an iconic halo hairstyle. Along with winning two gold medals at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games, Liu also made headlines with her hairstyle.
Liu’s bold look also caught the eyes of the recent Saturday Night Live host, Storrie. The “Heated Rivalry” star made his debut on the show and delivered a monologue, mentioning Liu and her fearless hairdo. Her new hairstyle featured alternating horizontal, platinum blonde, and brunette stripes, which created a look of “halo.”
Connor Storrie gave a shoutout to Liu’s successful appearance at the Milano Cortina Games, all while carrying a powerful look. Liu shared a quote from his appearance on the show where he said,
“And as the ice skating girl with the striped hair taught us, you can still be a baddie even if you are a little quirked up.”
Liu reacted to the statement by simply writing:
“Period”

Liu went ahead with the “tree rings” look three years back, thinking she would add a new ring every year. Ahead of her 2025 U.S. Championships, she decided to elevate her look and got her rings polished. She also featured a frenulum piercing during the Games, which she did herself.
Alysa Liu Opens Up On Her Mental Approach While Competing In The Final Of The Figure Skating
In a media interview following her victory in the figure skating final at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Alysa Liu stated that she had a very relaxed approach towards her final performance. She highlighted her journey, which featured the figure skater announcing her retirement at 16 and making her comeback two years later to win an Olympic gold medal at the age of 20.
“The feelings I felt out there were: calm, happy, and confident,” Liu said. “No matter what happens in my life, I think I have a beautiful life story, and I feel really lucky, and I’m glad that a lot of people are now watching me so that I could show them everything that I’ve come up with in my brain and share my stories.”
Alysa Liu’s victory marked the first gold medal for the U.S. women’s figure skating after Sarah Hughes’ win at the 2002 edition. Liu performed her final performance on Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park Suite,” released in 1978. Following her performance, the nearly 50-year-old song entered the top 10 ranking on the US iTunes.
