Georgia sprinter Adaejah Hodge won 200m gold and 60m silver at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships just weeks after completing a secret doping ban. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on March 16 that the British Virgin Islands star had served a 17-month suspension ending in January 2026.
Back in 2024, Hodge competed at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, where an in-competition sample tested positive for GW501516 sulfone and GW501516 sulfoxide, prohibited metabolites.
The Tortola-born sprinter received an immediate suspension order after being notified by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of potential violations of Rules 2.1 (presence of a prohibited substance) and 2.2 (use of a prohibited substance) of the 2024 World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules. Hodge was initially banned from competing from August 28, 2024, through August 27, 2026.
However, she cooperated with the anti-doping authorities and reduced her suspension to 17 months, making her eligible to return in January 2026. The Georgia sprinter has now had her competitive results from August 28, 2024, to November 22, 2024, revoked.
Australia’s Torrie Lewis Awarded Gold after Hodge’s Doping Fallout
Hodge competed at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, and won gold in the 200m and silver in the 100m. She has, however, been stripped of these titles, and they have now changed hands.
Aussie athletes Torrie Lewis and Jessica Milat both competed alongside Hodge and, since the news broke, have now seen a revised result. Lewis has now been awarded the gold medal, while Milat took home the bronze. Lewis shared her amazement at the reversal of the decision after 1.5 years.
“Maybe it’s a bit weird to post 1.5 years later but today I got the news that I was the 1st clean runner across the line in the 200m U20 championships in 2024,” she said.
Fellow Olympic track runner Lieke Klaver also applauded the decision in the comment section, writing:
“As you deserved!!! Clean for the win 🤝❤️.”
Adaejah Hodge had previously represented Britain at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women’s 200m race, finishing 17th.
