Will New England Fire Mike Vrabel? Betting Odds Reveal Chances Of Patriots HC Losing Job

In a twist many have seen coming, New England Patriots Mike Vrabel may be going from a coach who led his team to the Super Bowl to possibly getting fired just a few months later. This is all because of his alleged affair with former The Athletic reporter Diana Russini, as the scandal threw a lot of Russini’s former reports into question, as she may have had a much closer access to Vrabel than previously believed.

Both Vrabel and Russini are married to other people, which makes the scandal even more complicated. This soon led to Russini getting fired from The Athletic as her integrity is now in question, but many had believed Vrabel’s job had been pretty secured. However, Polymarket believes otherwise.

The decentralized prediction market platform says that Mike Vrabel now has a 64% chance of getting fired this year, a 29% increase from the previous odds he had. This suggests that the Patriots Organization might not be as comfortable with his relationship with Russini as many had previously thought.

The reason for the Patriots firing Vrabel might not entirely be from his alleged cheating scandal, however, as several factors might be in play. The odds say that he may get fired this year, which means that it could happen sometime later in the upcoming season, such as the Patriots not doing as well as last season.

For now, Vrabel has to step up his team’s game and possibly lead the Patriots to a hot start to keep his job intact.

The scandal itself might also result in some recruiting implications, especially when it comes to getting their top trade target, A.J. Brown. The Patriots have reportedly been in talks with the Eagles to trade for Brown, but should the Patriots fire Vrabel, the trade might not happen. Radio show host Joe Giglio noted that Brown might not even want to go to New England if they fire the coach.

“If Mike Vrabel has to step down, it changes everything. To me, the biggest reason why A.J. wants to be a Pat and the Pats want A.J. is Vrabel,” he said.

For now, it seems like the scandal might be costing the Patriots more than was previously believed. However, Vrabel has proven that he is a good coach and the team might stick with him for the time being, scandal or not.
