During the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LX, a fan ran onto the turf in front of tens of millions of viewers. The streak, later identified as Alex Gonzalez, was a Miami-based social media influencer and day trader known online as @FXAlexG
Gonzalez captured a POV of himself running through the gridiron and bypassing security and officials before being taken down by New England Patriots wide receiver Kyle Williams near the 10-yard line.
This was not the first time Gonzalez had run onto a Super Bowl field. He did the same activity two years ago as well to promote his trading brand (“Trade with Athena”) and his handle @FXAlexG on his body. At Levi’s Stadium, he had these promotional messages on chest and back.
The tackling of Gonzalez was not broadcast by NBC due to the NFL’s longstanding policy to discourage copycat behaviour. However, play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico called Gonzalez “rocket scientist.”
During the Super Bowl matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, two streakers were arrested for running shirtless on the field. In 2021 and 2020 as well, streakers were spotted and arrested.
Patriots Lost Super Bowl LX Against Seahawks
Right after the stoppage because of a streaker, the Patriots scored their first touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter when signal-caller Drake Maye threw a pass in the red zone to Mack Hollins to get the first points on the board.
Before that, the Patriots couldn’t score a single point in the first three quarters against Seattle’s defense. Maye was a different beast in the final quarter, but his shortcomings in the first three quarters proved too much to overcome in the final quarter.
The Seahawks also scored twice in the final quarter to defeat the Patriots 29-13. Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker II was announced as the MVP of the game, as he rushed for 135 yards on 27 carries. Kicker Jason Myers went 5-5 in field goal opportunities and quarterback Sam Darnold played a mistake-free role in the game.
