Tyreek Hill’s time as a Miami Dolphin is up. In a surprise move Monday morning, news broke that the Dolphins had released their star wide receiver this morning after spending th last four seasons with the team.
The move was made to free up some cap space for the upcoming season. By releasing Hill, the team avoided an $11 million guarantee payout next month, and the team freed up $22.8 million of cap space.
Hill played in just four games last season before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. He had 21 receptions for 265 yards and a receiving touchdown prior to his injury.
Hill wasn’t the only Miami player released on Monday. The Dolphins released edge rusher Bradley Chubb, who they acquired via trade from the Denver Broncos in 2022. He registered 8.5 sacks this past season. Miami freed up $7.3 million in cap space by releasing Chubb.
Could Tyreek Hill & the Kansas City Chiefs Have a Reunion?
With Tyreek Hill being free to negotiate with any team as a free agent now, there will be a lot of teams interested in him. One of those teams could be the team that drafted him, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hill flourished with quarterback Patrick Mahomes during his time in KC, and they became one of the most dangerous QB-WR duos in the league. Hill also won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and since he was traded to the Dolphins, the Chiefs won two more without him.
Hill has flirted with the idea of a reunion with the Chiefs multiple time over the years and now, it could happen.
Hill will be entering year 11 in the NFL this fall, and while his wheels may be slowing down a little in recent years, he still poses a threat to be a deadly weapon for Mahomes and the Chiefs.
