Who Plays The Seahawks Next Week? NFC Divisional Round Matchups Explored

The Seattle Seahawks qualified for the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the National Football Conference. Therefore, they earned a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Seahawks finished with a 14-3 record on a seven-game winning streak.

Their next game will be next week. However, their opponent is yet to be determined.

How the Seahawks’ Opponent Is Determined

According to NFL playoff rules, teams will be reseeded following the wild-card round. As such, the Seahawks’ next opponent will be whoever earns the last seed out of the wild-card games.

So far in the NFC wild-card round, the LA Rams have defeated the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears completed a comeback win over the Green Bay Packers. The only game remaining is the one between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

If the defending Super Bowl champions manage to beat the 49ers, the Rams will become the lowest seed. Therefore, they will have to travel to Seattle and play in the divisional round game against the Seahawks.

However, if the 49ers win their wild-card matchup against Philadelphia, Seattle would host San Francisco. Seattle and San Francisco have split their regular-season meetings. After registering a 13-3 victory over the 49ers in the final regular-season game, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald expressed content with the team’s performance after earning home-field advantage in the playoffs.

“All the things that we’ve been working at since we walked in the door, especially this year, are coming to life,” Macdonald said. “I’m just incredibly proud of them. They played incredibly hard, they played together, they played complementary football. Each phase picked the other up.”

The Divisional Round games are scheduled for next weekend. Seattle’s matchup will be played at Lumen Field in Seattle. Once the opponent is finalized, kickoff times and broadcast details will receive confirmation.

After finishing the regular season as the top seed, the Seahawks are emerging as favorites to win Super Bowl LX. Their odds range around +330 to +390, with the Rams their closest rivals with +360 to +380.
