Was Kirk Cousins Released By Atlanta? 3 Options For $180m Worth QB

After a disastrous flameout in 2024, Kirk Cousins showed a spark in 2025. However, the spark was not enough, as a report has surfaced that shuts the door on any chance with the Atlanta Falcons heading into 2026.

According to a Saturday report by ESPN, Cousins is expected to be released in time for the free agency blitz in March. As such, the soon-to-be former Atlanta Falcons quarterback will have his choice of where to go, assuming that team needs a quarterback. Here’s a look at three options that could make sense.

    Potential Kirk Cousins Landing Spots

    Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings moved on from the expensive Kirk Cousins for the cheaper J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold. With Kirk Cousins’ market likely a fraction of what it was when he arrived in Minnesota, a reunion between Kevin O’Connell and his former quarterback could make sense.

Of course, Cousins wouldn’t be the long-time solution this time around, with the team likely to need another name in the 2026 NFL Draft or the 2027 NFL Draft. However, the puzzle pieces could logically line up again.

    Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have every reason to give Geno Smith the Pete Carroll treatment after that experiment went down in flames. If Smith goes, the team will need another new quarterback to mentor and compete with Fernando Mendoza, assuming Las Vegas goes in that direction.

Cousins managed to pop with Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson on Dec. 11 when he threw for three touchdowns and exploded against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would be joining a team with Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty, so there’s a chance that some of the pop from that game transfers with him.

    Washington Commanders

If Kirk Cousins, the $180 million quarterback (Celebrity Net Worth), has reached the end of his days as a starter in every context, he could go back home. Cousins made his name with the Washington Redskins and could move back to his old city, bringing himself full circle behind a quarterback who needed his backup in 2025 quite often.

If Cousins wants to get another shot at a starting job one day, he could try to make magic happen again as he did a decade ago.
