The Green Bay Packers’ 2025 NFL campaign came to a heartbreaking end after they were knocked out in the Wild Card round by the Chicago Bears.
What made the loss sting even more was that Matt LaFleur’s side, despite being in full control of the game and holding a dominant 21–3 lead, let the game slip away in a 31–27 defeat to the Bears.
While early reports claimed the defeat had put LaFleur’s future in doubt, a fresh update paints a different picture. NFL insider Adam Schefter has revealed that the Packers are now expected to enter talks in the coming days to work out a deal that would keep LaFleur in Green Bay.
LaFleur, who has been in charge of the Wisconsin-based franchise for seven seasons now, has an overall coaching record of 79–46–1 and is currently signed with the franchise through the 2026 season.
LaFleur Calls Packers “Greatest Organization In the World” Post Playoff Loss
Despite the Packers’ painful loss to the Chicago Bears in their Wild Card playoff matchup, one possible reason Green Bay is still keen on retaining Matt LaFleur could be his deep love and commitment to the franchise. Following the playoff defeat, LaFleur was asked about his future in Green Bay, but he chose to stay focused in the moment instead.
Even though he avoided addressing his future directly, LaFleur went on to speak highly of the Packers, describing them as the best organization in the world.
“It means everything to me (being the Packers’ head coach). I mean this is the greatest organization in the world in my opinion”, he stated
In the current coaching carousel, LaFleur stands out as one of the more experienced head coaches, having worked with several franchises in different roles across his 17-year coaching career.
