    T’Vondre Sweat NFL Draft Pick, Stats, and Madden Rating Explored

    The Tennessee Titans have traded defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets for former Pro Bowler Jermaine Johnson. Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is getting back a player who he had coached to become a Pro Bowler in 2023 in Johnson, but how good is Sweat to be traded for a player who made the Pro Bowl?

    T’Vondre Sweat Draft Pick

    The Titans picked T’Vondre Sweat as their 38th overall pick during the second round in 2024 out of Texas, with the Titans being confident that the then-rookie would help bolster their struggling defense.

    He was originally projected to be picked around Round 4, but was picked early for his defensive prowess.

    T’Vondre Sweat Stats

    He was one of the best defensive players from the 2023 season, winning the Outland Trophy, which is only given to the nation’s top interior lineman-OL/DL. He was also the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and tallied 45 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, four PBUs, one blocked kick in his senior year. This made him a lucrative pick for Tennessee at that time.

    However, as he played in the NFL, Sweat was hampered by injury, posting just 85 tackles and three sacks in 29 games as he was sidelined for several games due to injuries. He is expected to add some size and explosiveness to the New York Jets after the trade, as well as give them some cap space with his his contract, which lasts until 2027, only counting $1.7 million.

    He has very good defensive stats, with him scoring high on tackle with 87, block shielding with 82, pursuit with 78, hit power with 83, play recognition with 76 and finesse moves with 75. He also has high scores on impact blocking but are generally okay on other stats that are not related to his position that much.
