Tommy DeVito spent the first two seasons of his NFL career as a member of the New York Giants. After being waived by the Giants prior to the 2025 season, the New England Patriots signed him to a one-year deal as a backup, where he became New England’s third-string quarterback behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs.
Set to become a free agent, DeVito and the Patriots agreed to terms Friday on a two-year deal that will keep him in New England for a few more years. The deal is worth $7.4 million over two years with $2 million guaranteed.
The base value is expected to be $4.4 million per ESPN. Prior to his new contract, DeVito has earned $2.6 million from his NFL career.
DeVito did not appear in a single game all season last year, but had prior experience with New York He’s started eight career games and has appeared in 12 while throwing for 1,358 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Who Are The Best Free Agent Quarterbacks?
Not that many teams would view him as a potential starter (being New England’s third-string quarterback), Tommy DeVito makes it one less quarterback available in free agency.
There are a number of quarterback-needy teams and others that may want to explore other options at the position.
The Arizona Cardinals are set to release former first-round pick Kyler Murray once the new league year begins. He highlights this year’s QB free agent class and is linked to the Minnesota Vikings.
Malik Willis is another quarterback who is set to be paid big this offseason and has been linked to the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets. He will very likely be a starting quarterback somewhere this season.
Other free agent (veteran) quarterbacks that are available include Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Joe Flacco.
