‘SHOW SOME FAITH IN HIM’: Skip Bayless Unleashes Wrath on Browns for Drafting Another QB Despite Having Shedeur Sanders

Sports commentator Skip Bayless sounded off on the Cleveland Browns’ strategy to draft quarterback Taylen Green in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft. The Browns already have Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabriel in their quarterback room.

Bayless was speaking in favor of Sanders probably getting the starting job for the next season. Drafting another quarterback when they already have three players in that department made no sense for Bayless, as he tweeted:

“WHY? WHY? WHY? Browns draft another QB, Taylen Green, top of R6. Freakish big athlete who throws it pretty well and definitely can run. BUT THE BROWNS DON’T NEED ANOTHER QB. THEY HAVE 3, WITH SHEDEUR THE STARTER. SHOW SOME FAITH IN HIM.”

Green is a former Arkansas quarterback who is super athletic with an impressive 4.36 40-yard dash, a 43.5” vertical jump, and an 11’2” broad jump. The 6-foot-5, 227-pound could be used by the Browns in particular scenarios in the 2026 season. This past season, Green threw for 2,714 yards with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He rushed for 777 yards and eight touchdowns on 139 attempts.

Even accounting for all of Green’s attributes, it’s highly unlikely he will win the starting quarterback job for the 2026 season.

What Browns Said About Adding Taylen Green to Shedeur Sanders’ QB Room?

The Browns are clear about their reason for picking Taylen Green for their already filled quarterback room. Browns general manager Andrew Berry shared his reasons for drafting the Arkansas signal-caller.

“With Taylen specifically, very mature young man, really strong makeup, and he has rare physical gifts,” Berry said. “He has size, he has elite speed. He has a big arm. You know, he’s going to need some polish with this game, but he has the work ethic and he has the acumen to do so. So we’re looking forward to adding him to the roster and adding him to the mix in terms of competition.”

Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson will compete for the starting job next season. Sanders got the job in the second half of last season and in his debut start, he became the first Browns rookie QB to register a win in this century. The numbers were below average, but it was expected since he didn’t receive many first-team reps. Meanwhile, Watson is returning from an Achilles injury and his health is a major concern.
