The NFL Draft 2026 started as expected with Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza going to the Las Vegas Raiders as the No. 1 overall pick. The star quarterback was followed by Texas Tech’s David Bailey going to the New York Jets.
Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love, Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, and Arvell Reese became the top five picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Although some players stepped up while some slipped, the most shocking thing about the draft so far was the snubs.
Several players, some of whom were expected to be Day 1 picks, weren’t even picked on Day 2. Fans and experts are speculating from different angles, such as a player being injury-prone or unreliable, but regardless, these snubs are too big to ignore.
Top 5 Players Snubbed at NFL Draft Day 2
Jermod McCoy
McCoy is the definitive snub of the 2026 class. Ranked as high as 19th overall by NFL Network, he fell entirely out of the first three rounds. While he missed the 2025 season with an ACL injury, he showed potential with the Oregon State Beavers and one season with the Vols. The Las Vegas Raiders finally ended his slide at pick No. 101.
Keionte Scott
Viewed as one of the best corners in the draft, Scott was a top-60 prospect on many boards. His absence from the first two days was unexpected. He entered Day 3 as one of the highest-rated players remaining at any position. He was eventually picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the 116th pick.
Kyle Louis
Pittsburgh Panthers’ linebacker was one of the biggest snubs of Day 2. Praised for his athleticism and speed, Louis was expected to be a top 60 pick. He was the First-team All-American and First-team All-ACC in 2024. The Miami Dolphins picked Louis in Round 4.
Deion Burks
This year’s draft has been dominated by wide receivers. WR’s from several programs have made a huge impact, so Burks being overlooked in the draft was very surprising.
He was widely expected to go in the 60–75 range but remained available until the early fourth round on Saturday. He was picked by the Colts in the seventh round.
Garrett Nussmeier
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was one of the biggest snubs in this year’s draft. Even though he wasn’t ranked very high from the beginning, no one expected Nussmeier to slip down to round seven of the draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the seventh round, 249th overall pick.
