Skip Bayless was rooting for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. Even though the Seattle Seahawks were the favorites to win and had significantly better odds, Bayless was on the Patriots’ side.
After the Seahawks won 29-13 and were crowned the NFL champions, Bayless posted a long video on his social media, expressing shock over how the game turned out. He also revealed that he’ll have to correct himself moving forward.
The media veteran is a passionate football fan. With decades of experience covering the sport, Bayless often gives blunt predictions for big games. For this Super Bowl, he had put an old habit on the line.
“NOW I HAVE TO WEAR A DARNOLD JERSEY TOMORROW ON ARENA GRIDIRON AND NEVER AGAIN CALL HIM ‘SAME’,” Bayless wrote.
In the video, Bayless stated that he was starting to like Drake Maye as a quarterback, which was contrary to his previous take on the Patriots star. But after his disastrous performance in the biggest game of his career, Bayless is considering going back to what he used to call him, “Drake Maybe.”
It’s the Seattle Seahawks quarterback who is making Bayless change a few things in his usual routine. Darnold went 19 of 38 for 202 yards and one touchdown. But his performance wasn’t the most impressive thing about the Seahawks’ win.
Their defense was relentless. The Seahawks put up one of the finest defensive performances ever in a Super Bowl. They had complete control over the Patriots’ offense. The Patriots were scoreless going into the fourth quarter.
This is also a major turnaround for Darnold because it wasn’t too long ago when teams and analysts were writing him off. Despite being bounced around by a few teams in the last few years, he is now a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
Skip Bayless Believes Tom Brady Would Be Happy
In the lead-up to the Super Bowl, everyone had their own pick and predictions for the game. Fans, analysts, and former players were confidently siding with the team they thought had a better chance of winning.
Tom Brady, a former New England Patriots quarterback who won six Super Bowls with them, was shockingly silent. Whenever he was asked for his pick, Brady gave very diplomatic answers.
Many fans thought that Brady was feeling insecure about Drake Maye potentially being the quarterback who would win another Super Bowl for him. After the Patriots’ loss, Bayless hinted at the same narrative.
“Somewhere, Tom Brady is smiling,” a fan wrote.
It’s worth noting that a day before the Super Bowl, Brady posted a picture of himself with Robert Kraft and stated that he would be rooting for the Patriots.
