No, Toronto-based rapper Drake has never performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. On the other hand, his biggest rival, Kendrick Lama,r performed last year at Caesars Superdome in Super Bowl 59. When the halftime show happened last year, Drake was away on a tour in Australia.
While he may not have performed at the grandest of stages, it’s not because he was never invited to perform. According to a Star Crush article, Drake has always turned down opportunities to perform at the halftime show.
In September 2024, Mal claimed on his podcast “New Rory & Mal” that the Toronto-based rapper, who is worth $400 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), has indeed turned down Super Bowl halftime opportunities.
“Drake has been offered this Super Bowl show for some years now and has turned it down,” Mal said at the 41-minute mark below. “Probably four years, he’s been offered to perform at the Super Bowl, said no for whatever reason…Drake has turned down the Super Bowl for a few years.”
UPROXX Studios’ Editorial Director of Hip Hop Journalism Elliott Wilison investigated the claim from Mal and confirmed that Drake has turned down the iconic opportunity two times at least. Wilson said Drake was invited to perform at the Super Bowl in Miami (2020) and in Tampa (2021).
“I have some intel,” Wilson said on The Bigger Picture. “I thought Mal was capping, I thought he was lying about Drake turning down the Super Bowl. That sounded wild. It was like, ‘Four times? Who turns down the Super Bowl that many times?
“I have it on authority, multiple sources have told me that Drake has indeed turned down the Super Bowl. He actually turned down the first two [since JAY-Z’s NFL partnership] — the one in Miami and The Weeknd one.”
Who Did Drake Bet On In Super Bowl LX?
Drake is public about his bets on high-profile sporting events. Every year, he generally places a bet on the Super Bowl team that he thinks can win the Big Game. This year was no different.
The Toronto-based rapper shared on social media that he had wagered $1 million on the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks.
He posted a screenshot of the wager on Instagram and asked his followers to dare by picking against him. It remains to be seen if Drake Maye & Co. wins him plenty of money this Super Bowl.
