Seattle Seahawks RB Depth Chart: What Are Mike Macdonald’s Options After Zach Charbonnet Injury?

In his third season in the NFL, Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet had his most productive season.

Splitting the backfield with starter Kenneth Walker III, Charbonnet was able to rush for a career-high 12 rushing touchdowns along with a career-high 730 rushing yards. Charbonnet hadn’t rushed for more than eight touchdowns or 560 yards in either of his first two seasons.

Playing in his first career playoff game this past weekend in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, Charbonnet left the game early due to an injury. It was later revealed that Charbonnet tore his ACL and he will be out for the remainder of Seattle’s postseason run.

With Charbonnet out for this Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams, let’s explore what available running backs the Seahawks have.

Exploring Seahawks’ RB Depth Chart After Zach Charbonnet Injury

As of right now, starting running back Kenneth Walker III is the only active running back heading into Sunday’s championship game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks are in good hands with Walker III, who rushed for a team-high 1,027 yards in the regular season to go with his five rushing touchdowns and 282 receiving yards. He carried the load for Seattle last week when Charbonnet went down, finishing the game with 116 rushing yards on 19 carries and three rushing touchdowns.

The Seahawks elevated running back Velus Jones Jr. from the practice squad this past weekend for the team’s Divisional Round game against the 49ers. He appeared in three regular season games, rushing the ball four times for 32 yards.

The Seahawks also have veteran running back Cam Akers, who is currently on the team’s practice squad. He was picked up as a free agent on Nov. 26 and appeared in three games for Seattle, with just one target as a receiver.

The Seahawks could elevate running back George Holani, who has been on injured reserve since Nov. 29 after suffering a hamstring injury against the Tennessee Titans. He’s rushed for 73 yards on 22 carries and rushed for a touchdown this season.
