Zach Charbonnet has been in the spotlight for the Seattle Seahawks after their 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs. Seahawks running back Charbonnet suffered a knee injury in the second quarter and did not return.
Since the Seahawks need their best players for the NFC championship game against the LA Rams on Sunday, fans have been curious to learn more about Charbonnet’s injury and whether he will recover in time for Seattle’s next game.
Zach Charbonnet Injury Update
According to reports, Zach Charbonnet has suffered a season-ending knee injury, which means he will not be part of the Seahawks’ upcoming playoff run. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks RB suffered a torn ACL.
Seahawks coach Mike MacDonald confirmed on Monday that Charbonnet will need to undergo surgery.
“A significant knee injury, unfortunately,” MacDonald said about Charbonnet’s injury. “Breaks your heart. He’s going to need surgery, so he’s got a good long road to come back.”
Charbonnet injured his knee on an outside run in the second quarter. He evaded a tackle attempt by San Francisco linebacker Dee Winters before eventually being tackled by LB Eric Kendricks. The Seahawks RB was evaluated on the field and in the medical tent before making his way to the locker room.
Charbonnet had been one of the Seahawks’ best offensive players this season. He recorded 703 yards with 12 touchdowns on 184 carries, helping them win the NFC West.
Charbonnet posted 20 yards on five carries against the 49ers before exiting.
Seahawks RB Depth Chart
Zach Charbonnet entered the season as the Seahawks’ RB2, behind Kenneth Walker III.
While Walker will remain Seattle’s RB1, Velus Jones Jr. is expected to move up to RB2 following Charbonnet’s injury.
Jones has played in eight games this season. However, he could get more reps for the Seahawks, who are pushing for Super Bowl glory this season.
