Sean McDermott’s Buffalo Bills suffered a 30-33 overtime loss against the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round matchup. McDermott is now being targeted by fans who believe he should be fired.
With this loss, the Bills are no longer in contention for the Super Bowl. But that isn’t the only reason why fans want to see him leave the franchise. McDermott has been on a terrible postseason run in recent years. Fans no longer want to overlook that.
McDermott joined the Bills in 2017 as a first-time head coach. His regular-season record has been good throughout his tenure, with 98 wins and 50 losses. However, it’s the postseason where he struggled.
He has won eight of his 16 games in the postseason. His playoff run has been disastrous in the last few years, adding to the narrative that he can no longer deliver.
“Buffalo Bills last 5 playoffs
* 2026: Blew a 4th qt lead at Denver
* 2025: Blew a 4th qt lead at KC
* 2024: Blew a 4th qt lead vs. KC
* 2023: Blown out by Cincy at home
* 2022: Blew 4th qt lead at KC
How many more years of Josh Allen prime will Buffalo let Sean McDermott waste?” Fox Sports Radio’s Aaron Torres wrote.
“Sean McDermott needs to be fired tomorrow guys defense gives up 30+ almost every playoff game. Bills need to make the change,” a fan wrote.
“Sean McDermott is gone. We cannot trust him anymore. We ain’t winning sh*t unless he’s fired,” a fan wrote.
“I dare the Bills to get rid of Sean McDermott lol,” a fan wrote.
“BTW Sean McDermott is outta Buffalo after the latest failure,” a fan wrote.
While fans are torching him for the loss, McDermott is furious over the terrible officiating in the game. He believes it cost the Bills.
Sean McDermott on Poor Officiating
After the game, McDermott made it clear that his team was robbed of the opportunity to compete in the Conference Championship. When asked about the poor officiating, he said that he is compelled to speak up because his team was robbed.
“That’s how we handle our business, but when I’m looking at the replay myself and I’m being objective and I’m saying, ‘you can not convince me that that was not a catch, Buffalo possession, ball at the 20. You can’t convince.’ I’m speaking up because I feel strongly that that was a catch and that possession should have been ball belongs to Buffalo,” he said.
McDermott will now be under tremendous pressure as he’s been piling up postseason losses. It’ll be interesting to see what the Bills decide in the next few days.
