Jaxson Dart is on the receiving end of internet backlash. The New York Giants quarterback introduced President Donald Trump at a rally in New York, and it has set off reactions from fans, pundits, and one of his teammates.
Athletes publicly expressing their political views are often scrutinized, and in the current atmosphere, when the divide is bigger than ever, Dart was bound to receive flak from those with opposing views.
However, he wouldn’t have thought that one of his teammates would call him out publicly. Responding to the clip of Dart introducing the president, Giants linebacker Abdul Carter said that he thought it was AI.
“thought this sh*t was AI, what we doing man,” he wrote.
Carter’s post has garnered over 21 million views in just six hours, with over 100k likes and thousands of responses. One of those responses came from Charles R Downs, who called out Carter’s hypocrisy.
Downs posted a clip from the 2025 NFL Draft where Carter represented his religion with his outfit.
“Funny how Abdul loves shoving his religion and politics down America’s throat but melts down when his teammate Jackson Dart (@JaxsonDart) attends a Trump rally,” he wrote.
This back and forth between the two sides will go on for the next few days on the platform. Amid all the chaos, Sage Steele became the voice of reason and reminded people that Dart’s political views and Carter’s religious representation can co-exist.
“The hypocrisy is never ending. @1NCRDB1 .. you keep doing you, wearing what you want, representing & worshipping who you want, and be cool with @JaxsonDart doing the same. Diversity of thought, right?! Or is that not a thing in your culture?!?” she wrote.
Carter publicly calling out his teammate has turned into a bigger discussion on the disruption of the locker room atmosphere.
Giants Legend Responded to Abdul Carter Over Jaxson Dart Comment
New York Giants legend Lawrence Tynes, who won two Super Bowls with the franchise, responded to Carter and called him out for his public comment. Tynes believes that it could potentially hurt the locker room atmosphere.
He also stated that Carter called his teammate out publicly to get attention.
“The locker room is a sacred place because it brings together everyone from all walks of life and beliefs for one common goal,” he wrote. “Calling a teammate out publicly for his political views and to get attention is nasty work.”
Fans are heavily divided on the subject, and their responses are only making this situation worse.
