“Patriots Or No One”: Mike Florio Takes Clear Stance On AJ Brown Trade Rumors Amid Uncertainty On WR’s Future

AJ Brown’s future in Philadelphia remains uncertain, as it is still unclear which team the Eagles will trade him to. The New England Patriots have been touted as the favorites for the star wide receiver for months now. However, with coach Mike Vrabel engulfed in a major controversy involving former The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini, the chances of that trade happening now remain uncertain.

In March, Russini broke the news that the Patriots were a potential landing spot for Brown. Barely a month later, Page Six published photos of Russini and Vrabel spending time together at a resort in Arizona. This brought Russini’s credibility into question as speculation about the nature of her relationship with the coach led to a major controversy, especially since both are married to other people.

The Athletic launched an investigation into the alleged affair, leading to Russini resigning from the New York Times-owned publication. It has also raised concerns about alleged insider trading and undisclosed conflicts of interest. Many believe this has thrown a wrench into the AJ Brown trade, but one veteran analyst expects the WR to become a Patriot.

NBC’s Mike Florio pointed out that with the June 1 deadline coming up, the Patriots are the only viable destination for the wide receiver. New England is apparently the only team that wants Brown right now, and had any other franchise been involved, the Eagles would have already leaked it by now.

“As it stands, it’s the Patriots or no one,” Florio wrote on Thursday. “And with all indications pointing to the Eagles and Brown being beyond the point of no return, Philly’s only play is to make a deal.”

Florio also noted that the Eagles have already added possible replacements for AJ Brown, including Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Dontavian Wicks and Elijah Moore. They also drafted Makai Lemon. All these moves mean they want to move on from AJ Brown. However, they have not yet done so and may be waiting for another team to bite, as the Eagles and the Patriots are reportedly still “not particularly close” to a deal.

Jalen Hurts Breaks Silence on Possible AJ Brown Trade

Meanwhile, reporters asked Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts about the possibility of them trading one of his most reliable targets, AJ Brown. Hurts, who won a Super Bowl with the star wide receiver, thought about his answer carefully and said:

“For us, we’re focused on learning the offense. It really doesn’t change in terms of our approach to improve. There’s an ‘if’ obviously. It’s been a lingering thing, but nothing can replace all the greatness that we achieved together.”

For now, it seems that the Eagles want to trade Brown, but the only team interested is the Patriots. The problem with that is that the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini controversy could taint the move.
