Aaron Hernandez’s sister, Davina, posted a throwback picture with the late Patriots tight end, reminiscing about the 4th of July celebration from 20 years ago. Davina was reminded of the picture from Facebook memories.
Davina and Aaron could be seen eating s’mores in the picture. She penned a heartfelt note in the Instagram post, telling people of the importance of cherishing every moment with their loved ones.
“Those Facebook memories sometimes hit you like a ton of bricks. 20 years ago on the 4th 😢. Two full decades ago! When you’re young, you don’t realize ‘the good ole days’ were actually the good ole days,” she wrote.
“You don’t realize how reading ‘Try Then and Now Template’ cuts deep knowing there is no ‘now’ 💔. You don’t realize you’ll miss making s’mores…and everytime you burn your marshmallows to a crisp…you think of your loved one 💔😢. Hug your loved ones tight y’all, cus you just never know,” Davina added.
Hernandez played only three seasons in the NFL, all with the New England Patriots. Alongside Rob Gronkowski, he formed one of the most dominant tight end duos and made one Super Bowl appearance.
In 2013, Hernandez was arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd. After the arrest, he was released by the Patriots and found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
Davina clarified that her post wasn’t meant to hurt anyone’s feelings.
“And I’m just going to add this for clarification because this always seems to come up…sharing this memory means no disrespect to anyone. I will continue to pray for everyone affected by this situation,” she wrote.
Hernandez was found dead inside his cell in April 2017; it was ruled a suicide.
Four Patriots Players Cracked The 100 Most Important List
We’re inching closer to the 2026 NFL season, and the New England Patriots will go in as one of the best teams in the league. After making a run to the Super Bowl last season, they will be expected to go all the way this time.
Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports recently put together a list of the 100 most important players in the NFL, and it was published 100 days before the next season kicks off. Pereles clarified that the list doesn’t refer to the 100 best players, and they aren’t ranked in his report.
Four Patriots who made the list are Drake Maye, A.J. Brown, Will Campbell, and Christian Gonzalez. Maye finished second in the MVP voting last year, and he will be expected to lead the team once again while maintaining his breakout season momentum.
