After struggling on the offense for the first three quarters, the Houston Texans suffered a major setback at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Nico Collins was carted off the field with a head injury.
The Texans are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round matchup. Despite a slow start, they picked up pace right before halftime and went into the locker room with a one-point lead.
With the offense still struggling against the Steelers defense, Collins shocked the Texans fans as he hit his head hard on the ground. He was then escorted off the field and into the medical tent for evaluation.
After checking Collins for a concussion, the Texans announced that he was questionable to return to the game. In the most recent update on Collins, he was carted to the locker room.
This is usually a sign that a player is not likely to come back on the field. Before he exited the game, Collins had just three receptions for 21 yards. In his absence, the backups will have to step up to win the game.
Collins’ importance in the Texans’ lineup cannot be overstated. He is the only Texans wide receiver with over 525 yards this season. He has also posted his third consecutive thousand-yard season with the Texans.
Collins has registered 71 catches for over 1100 yards with six touchdowns so far this season. To their credit, even in his absence from the game, the Texans have managed to extend their lead and are likely going to walk away with a win.
Nico Collins’ Texans Are on the Brink of Eliminating the Steelers
The Texans had a good regular season run, finishing 12-5 on a nine-game winning streak. They landed behind the Jaguars on the AFC South chart. Going into the Steelers game, they were expected to be the better team.
Although the initial struggles made the job harder for the Texans, they have since managed to bounce back and take a commendable lead. With over two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Texans are leading 30-6.
Unless they do something drastic like the Green Bay Packers, who blew their 21-3 lead, they are likely going to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs while the Steelers season comes to an end on their home ground.
