The NFL will be holding nine international games during the 2026 season, which is an all-time high.
As Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL look to expand football globally each year, the NFL’s efforts to play at different stadiums across different continents brings a unique in-person NFL experience for countries outside of the United States.
This year, for the 2026 season, three games will be played in London. One game will be played at Wembley Stadium while the other two will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The dates and times have yet to be announced and just one team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, is known to be one of the six teams playing in London this upcoming season.
San Francisco 49ers Make History With 2026 International Schedule
It’s not always a great thing to make history or be the first team to do something. The San Francisco 49ers will make history this season by becoming the first team in NFL history to play multiple games in three different countries.
The 49ers are slated to play two international games this season- one in Melbourne, Australia, and another in Mexico City, Mexico.
The 49ers will travel nearly 38,000 miles this season, which is an NFL record. This has prompted players such as 49ers’ tight end George Kittle to call for a second bye week during the NFL season for more rest and recovery time.
