New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury last week in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. While trying to catch a pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart, Skattebo suffered a dislocation when Eagles linebacker Zach Baun tackled him and landed awkwardly on his leg/foot.
Skattebo missed the rest of the season as a result and even opened up about being in dark times while recovering from the injury. Recently, a viral rumor has surfaced on social media today that Skattebo is considering retirement this early into his career.
A parody account on X Tweeted that Skattebo said on his stream that he’s considering stepping away from the game due to what concussions have done to certain players and citing that he can make more money off of streaming.
Here is the Tweet.
Luckily for Skattebo and Giants’ fans, the rumor has no truth to it. The account is a parody X page looking to stir things up and cause rumors. There’s no truth to Skattebo retiring.
Cam Skattebo Had A Productive Rookie Season
The New York Giants drafted Cam Skattebo in the fourth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the numbers he put up in the games he played, Skattebo was a steal.
In just eight games played, Skattebo had 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards, and scored seven total touchdowns. If he had played all 17 games, there would have been a good chance that he would have been nominated for Rookie of the Year.
