Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is in trouble after his ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Nichole Jones, filed a $1 million lawsuit in civil court on account of being the victim of alleged domestic violence.
Dacoda, the mother of Rice’s two children, is claiming she faced a pattern of physical abuse spanning nearly two years. She claims to be a victim of choking, strangling, scratching, hitting, and headbutting.
This all first started in January when Dacoda accused the NFL star of domestic violence on Instagram. While she didn’t name the receiver directly, it was well understood to whom she was pointing. She also showed photos of her physical injuries, including bruising on her face and body.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet. I’m so tired of protecting his image,” Jones wrote. “He tries to put on this persona like he’s dad of the year… I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that.”
Jones also mentioned that the abuse also happened while she was pregnant and sometimes she was forcefully locked out her home in freezing temperatures.
Chiefs Release Statement Over Social Media Allegations Against Rashee Rice
After Dacoda Nichole Jones shared the details of being the victim of domestic violence, Rashee Rice’s Chiefs took note of the allegations and released the following statement:
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League. We have no further comment at this time.”
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the receiver ever since he arrived in the NFL. He served a six-game suspension last season following his high-speed street racing crash in Dallas in 2024, which left multiple people injured. For the same in July last year, Rice pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in prison and five years of probation.
The NFL generally conducts its own investigation when domestic violence allegations are made against one of its players under the personal conduct policy. The basic punishment is six games suspension, but if a player has already suffered disciplinary action before, like in the case of Rice, the penalties can be significant.
Right now, the lawsuit has just been filed, and the Chiefs or the NFL have yet to take action on their part.
