Is Tyreek Hill Returning To Chiefs? Andy Reid Makes Feelings Very Clear On Reunion With Star WR

On February 16, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was released by the Miami Dolphins. He finished his final season in Miami with 21 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown. In Week 4, Hill suffered a gruesome injury that ended his season early.

Hill underwent surgery to repair his dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL. He is currently recovering from the surgery and is expected to be available when the 2026 season starts.

But which team will Tyreek Hill play for? There are several teams that are reportedly interested in signing him, including the New Orleans Saints. Hill is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, and he brings a lot of experience to the WR position.

So, pursuing him would be a no-brainer for any team that needs to strengthen its offense. However, the most obvious choice in the mix for Tyreek Hill would be the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that drafted him back in 2016.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was recently asked about the potential reunion with the wide receiver. He expressed concern over Hill’s physical condition and questioned whether he’s even healthy right now.

“I don’t even know if Tyreek (Hill) is healthy right now to do anything. I’m sure he’s (Tyreek Hill) working hard on that part of it (and) trying to get all that straightened out. We talk about everything so there’s nothing happening there, but we know what you know and he’s out there cranking away trying to get himself back to where he can play, period,” Reid said, via Adam Schefter.

There have been some developments within the Chiefs organization that indicate that Hill might be going back to Kansas City.

Cam Newton’s Take on Tyreek Hill’s Next Destination

The Chiefs recently restructured Patrick Mahomes’ contract for the fourth year in a row. This has brought his salary cap number down to $34.65 million from $78.2 million and opened up $43.56 million in salary cap space.

The freed-up cap space will allow them to sign more players, and Cam Newton believes Tyreek Hill should be their target. He discussed Hill’s free agency on an episode of 4th&1 with Cam Newton.

“One team that should consider him, the Kansas City Chiefs,” Newton said. “There’s familiarity there. You’ve got Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce…Kansas City makes a lot of sense.”

As of now, it remains unclear whether Hill will join the Chiefs or not. But the hype around this reunion and the updated cap space is keeping this rumor alive.
