Mike Vrabel may be in the news for all the wrong reasons, but New England Patriots fans who live and die by Vrabel’s healthy contributions to the team will argue that he never did anything illegal during the entire Dianna Russini scandal.
And while that is true, and perhaps the only reason why the head coach has kept his job with the NFL franchise, the same fans may not be too excited to learn about a troubling past incident that did get Vrabel into some legal trouble.
It comes from 2011, when ESPN, the same company that Dianna Russini actually worked for, reported that Mike Vrabel was arrested for theft while he was a linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Vrabel was arrested at a Casino & Spa on a Class D felony charge and released after he posted a $600 bond soon after. But the incident highlights a troubling past in the life of the NFL coach, and its appearance now isn’t a coincidence.
Why Was Vrabel Arrested?
The report suggests that Vrabel took bottles of alcohol from a deli without paying for them, though he himself felt like things were taken out of context.
“It was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and I take full responsibility for the miscommunication,” Vrabel said via his agent, Neil Cornrich.
“I feel comfortable that after talking with the appropriate parties, we will resolve this matter.”
