Kenneth Walker Takes Clear Stance On Seahawks Future Ahead Of Super Bowl LX

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker is set to become a free agent this offseason, and he wants to run it back with Seattle.

Walker had one of his best seasons in the NFL in Year 4, rushing for 1,027 yards on 221 carries and scoring five rushing touchdowns. He also tallied 282 receiving yards on 31 receptions.

With free agency coming up, Walker wants to remain a Seahawk. Speaking to the media this week about his future and about staying with Seattle, Walker said he would ‘definitely stay’ if it was his choice.

    Walker said via NFL.com:

“I’ve been here four years, so you know I’ve gotten to know a lot of stuff about Seattle, and you know a lot of the city, and I feel like they feel good about me as well,” Walker said. “So if it was my choice, though, I’d definitely stay.”

Business is business, and Walker will likely test the open market if he and Seattle don’t strike a long-term deal before the start of the new league year.

Seattle Could Be Extra Aggressive In Retaining Kenneth Walker This Offseason

We could see Kenneth Walker hit the bag this offseason.

In his four NFL seasons, Walker has rushed for 3,555 yards, rushed for 29 touchdowns, and caught 133 receptions for 1,005 yards and two touchdowns. That’s a lot of production.

Walker has also been the team’s bellcow in its two postseason games, rushing for 178 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries. He’s also hauled in seven receptions for 78 yards.

To top all of that, backup running back Zach Charbonnet, who rushed for a team-high 12 touchdowns this season, suffered an ACL tear in the team’s Divisional Round playoff win against the San Francisco 49ers. The team fears that they will be without him to start the next season. This could make Seattle’s pursuit to retain Walker more aggressive.

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald also said the team would like to keep Walker. We’ll see if the two sides can get a long-term deal soon sooner rather than later.
