The NFL Honors award night this Thursday saw Seattle Seahawks’ star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba win the prestigious Offensive Player of the Year award courtesy of his consistent performances throughout the season.
His contribution to the Seahawks’ attacking play has helped the franchise so much that they could potentially win their second Super Bowl as they face the New England Patriots later this week.
However, Jaxson Smith-Njigba’s award night was marred with a below-the-belt joke attempt from comedian Druski, who was presenting Smith’s name in San Francisco.
While announcing the Seattle-based side’s star player as the winner of the Offensive Player of the Year award, Druski butchered Jaxson’s last name as a wordplay on a racial slur, which was, but naturally, not welcomed by NFL fans on X.
“100% on purpose”, stated a fan.
“Yes, if he knows “JSN” he knew what he was doing”, said a fan.
“Not even funny. Clown!”, remarked a fan.
“Why is this idiot someone”, commented a fan.
“If you can’t pronounce the athlete’s name and don’t know who he is, then you probably shouldn’t be announcing the award for the guy. Just sayin”, commented another fan.
“why tf would you let some influencer clown announce awards like this”, stated another fan.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s breakout 2025 NFL season for the Seahawks saw him set a franchise record with 1,793 receiving yards on 119 receptions whilst also scoring 10 receiving touchdowns.
Mike Vrabel Named NFL Coach of the Year At Honors Night
The NFL Honors award night saw the two Super Bowl finalists claiming an award each. While the Seahawks saw their star wide receiver win the Offensive Player of the Year award, the New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel won the NFL Coach of the Year award.
Despite failing to qualify for the latter stages of the 2025 season, the Carolina Panthers saw wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, while Cleveland Browns players Myles Garrett and Carson Schwesinger won the Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards, respectively.
However, the highlight of the night was most definitely veteran QB Matthew Stafford’s MVP win, edging out Drake Maye in a closely contested voting competition.
