John Harbaugh in No Doubt as Relationship With Lamar Jackson Comes Under Question as Giants HC

New York Giants coach John Harbaugh recently asserted that he still has a great relationship with his former player, Lamar Jackson. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, NFL writer Kevin Oestreicher uploaded a clip on his X/Twitter, showing Harbaugh’s recent interview on the WFAN podcast.

In the video, Harbaugh was asked if he still has a good relationship with Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback Jackson, after Harbaugh announced his departure from the Ravens franchise recently. Harbaugh affirmed that he and Jackson still show adoration for each other and that they still have each other’s respect.

“ Yeah, phenomenal relationship with Lamar. I mean, everything has been absolutely positive. Ask him, he’ll tell you. I mean, we love each other. We tell each other we love each other. I mean, he’s one of my favorite human beings. We revolutionized offensive football with Lamar Jackson. I don’t know why that doesn’t get written about more, you know. So let’s talk about that; twice, two different times,” Harbaugh shared.

On Jan. 6 of this year, Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens franchise after spending 17 years, from 2008 to 2025. On Monday, Jan. 19, the New York Giants franchise announced that they are hiring Harbaugh as their head coach, replacing Brian Daboll, who was dismissed in November 2025. Harbaugh was the Baltimore-based franchise’s winningest tactician during his tenure.

Jackson will move on with the 2026 NFL campaign later this year, his eighth overall, with a new coach coming in for the first time in his career.

John Harbaugh’s 2025-26 Baltimore Ravens Missed The NFL Playoffs

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons why the Baltimore Ravens decided to let go of John Harbaugh as their head coach is that the team missed out on the 2025-26 NFL playoffs.

They finished the regular season campaign with an overall record of 8-9 and were the second seed in the AFC North. Lamar Jackson, who has played out his entire NFL career with the Ravens, will now look to lead the team into postseason play.
