Lamar Jackson shockingly dropped from No. 2 to No. 69 in the past two years in the NFL Top 100 list, and the fact that the list is voted on by his peers seems to say a lot. Former NFL player Ryan Clark called the move “almost stupid.”
On ESPN’s “First Take” on Tuesday, Clark slammed the voting, saying that his quality needs to be recognized better by those who have played with and against him.
“Outside of Patrick Mahomes, there is no more accomplished quarterback in the entire NFL (than Lamar Jackson),” he said.
“I expected executives to not know where to place him, I expected marketers and brands to not understand the power of his voice, what I didn’t expect is dudes who have to line up in pads … to not understand how scary it is to walk on the field when this dude is right.
“It’s not just disrespectful, it’s almost stupid that he is ranked so low. And I don’t know if he cares about it at all but this says a lot about this league and how quickly we forget what Lamar Jackson has accomplished.”
Others Praised Lamar Jackson’s Quality Too
Not just Ryan Clark, but recently retired Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joel Bitonio also praised Lamar Jackson.
“Lamar’s special,” Joel Bitonio said, according to Sports Illustrated.
“I think he’s so dynamic to what Baltimore does. When he’s on the field, just the threat of his run mobility, the way he can still open up the passing game as well, it’s always tough for us when we have to go to Baltimore.”
Jackson can silence the haters once and for all once the new season begins.
