Los Angeles Rams star Jared Verse was traded to the Cleveland Browns to facilitate Myles Garrett’s move to the West Coast. The blockbuster trade is still being finalized, but it’s confirmed that the Browns will receive a 2027 first-round pick and another draft pick compensation, which is still being negotiated.
After the trade was shared on the NFL’s official Instagram account, Verse bid his farewell to LA. He took to Instagram, resharing a post talking about the trade, and wrote:
“Thank you for everything LA.”

Verse, 25, is from Dayton, Ohio. The pass rusher went to high school in Pennsylvania. He didn’t receive much interest from Division I, so he went to FCS’s Albany (NY). He transferred to Florida State and was picked No. 19 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Rams.
In two seasons, Verse has already recorded 12.0 sacks and two Pro Bowl selections.
The Browns were initially not interested in trading Garrett. But as per reports, the Rams were persistent in their pursuit of the defensive stalwart. In the end, when they brought Verse into the conversation, Cleveland reportedly started talking, and we are here now.
Did the Browns Win Myles Garrett Blockbuster By Getting Jared Verse?
Truth be told, there is no comparison between Jared Verse and Myles Garrett, who is a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. However, Verse fits better than Garrett on the Browns’ roster, which is in a rebuilding stage. Not because of skills, but by the time the Browns may start contending for the Super Bowl, Verse would have been developed very well.
It also helps that Verse is still on his rookie contract, so it is an inexpensive barter for the Browns. If and when the Browns settle on a franchise quarterback, Verse could be extended and develop into the leader of the franchise’s defensive side.
Moreover, the Rams are also sending draft compensation, which will only bolster the roster in the near future.
All in all, it doesn’t matter that Garrett was a superstar player on the Browns because they were a losing side. While this deal makes their defense feel a little lighter comparatively, in the coming years, they could become a threat.
