The Los Angeles Rams have made a blockbuster move trading for two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, from the Cleveland Browns. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the trade is still getting finalized.
For Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and other draft-pick compensation, which is still being negotiated with the Browns.
Garrett is coming off a dominant season and gives Los Angeles arguably the NFL’s scariest pass rush on paper.
After the news was shared online, fans shared their thoughts on this blockbuster move.
“Is this the biggest trade in NFL history??” one fan asked.
“Going from living in Cleveland playing for the Browns to living in LA playing for the Rams is like trading in a ‘02 Nissan Altima to a brand new V12 Ferrari,” one fan wrote.
“HOLY”,” another added.
“Oh my god there’s no way,” another commented.
“Wow. It’s hard to feel like a contender landing Myles Garrett is anything other than a massive win,” one fan added. “I love the Rams’ aggression. They feel like the clear SB favorite. This is great for the Browns, too. You get a surefire young stud on top of draft compensation.”
“Aahhhh hahahahhaha hey Cleveland!!! Whaaaat happenedddd? Hahahahah,” one fan joked about Browns. “You bums have nothing. You’re never allowed to have anything. Poverty franchise.”
Insider Shares More About Myles Garrett Blockbuster Between Browns and Rams
Several teams were interested in trading for the Browns’ defensive stalwart Myles Garrett. However, none were as adamant as the Rams, who kept calling and calling. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, it wasn’t until the Rams included Jared Verse as part of the trade that the Browns started to consider trading Garrett.
In another update from ESPN, the pursuit by the Rams was “persistent” and it started “after the Browns modified the contract of the seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end in March”, which pushed back the options bonuses from the 15th day of the league year in March to seven days before the regular season.
This is classic GM Les Snead. The Rams general manager is known to sacrifice future assets for elite talent. Garrett now joins a team that already had young building blocks and recently added major pieces in the secondary.
On the other hand, Cleveland gets a premium young edge rusher in Verse plus draft capital.
