Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker James Pearce Jr. was arrested in Florida on Saturday. The arrest happened following a series of disturbing events that involved Pearce and his girlfriend, Rickea Jackson.
On Tuesday, Jackson’s attorneys filed a court notice in Miami-Dade. With that, Pearce’s problems have become much bigger. He is facing five felony charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking.
ESPN recently reported that Jackson is going to testify against Pearce if the domestic violence charges against him go to trial. This has opened a new set of problems for the Falcons’ rookie.
“In a notice of appearance and notice of victims’ rights (Marsy’s Law), Jackson’s attorneys requested the court to dedicate ‘all possible resources and personnel’ to the case to ‘conclude it as soon as practicable and bring justice to her and the people of the State of Florida’,” ESPN reported.
As per the document, Jackson is “cooperative and willing to testify at trial.” She is being represented by Gary F. Celetti and Wendy A.L. Beswick.
“The victim is pleading with the Court and the State to conclude this matter promptly without hindering the efficacy of the prosecution’s case,” Jackson’s attorneys wrote.
Jackson and Pearce used to date. As per the police report, they dated for almost three years. However, after they had broken up, Pearce followed Jackson in his vehicle on the day of his arrest.
He also had a back-and-forth with the police that day, which almost led to a disastrous outcome. As per an initial report by Andy Slater, Pearce was not obeying the police officer’s command, and he had to pull his gun out while instructing the Falcons rookie to follow what he was being told.
Who Is James Pearce Jr.’s Girlfriend?
Jackson is a WNBA star who currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA and Breeze BC in the Unrivaled basketball league. The 24-year-old is a former McDonald’s All-American and Michigan Miss Basketball.
During her collegiate career, she represented the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Tennessee Lady Volunteers from 2019 to 2024. In the 2024 WNBA Draft, Jackson was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks as their first-round, fourth overall pick.
Jackson plays the small forward position for the Sparks and is widely regarded as one of the future superstars in the league.
