Throughout the last season, Stefon Diggs and Cardi B remained one of the power couples in the NFL. Cardi stood beside the New England Patriots wide receiver, cheered for him from the stands, and even bragged about him on social media.
They also welcomed a child together last year, giving all the positive signs of building toward a long-lasting relationship. They had their fair share of drama, and Diggs was involved in multiple controversies outside that relationship, but no one expected an abrupt end.
Diggs and the Patriots took on the Seattle Seahawks and were humiliated in the Super Bowl showdown. The Patriots were handed one of the most embarrassing losses in Super Bowl history, but that wasn’t the only setback for Diggs that day.
After the Super Bowl, fans noticed that Diggs and Cardi had unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking discussions about their breakup. As of now, they haven’t publicly acknowledged the split, but the internet is convinced that they are no longer together.
Cam Newton, on the other hand, has a different take on it. On a recent episode of 4th&1 with Cam Newton, he said that even though they’ve broken up, this wouldn’t be the end of Cardi and Stefon Diggs.
Using lyrics from Jay-Z’s ‘I Know’, he said:
“She wants that old thing back…She likes me, she fiends for me nightly.”
Newton said that this is their first breakup, and couples don’t usually call it quits after the first breakup.
“The first time you break up with somebody, it don’t count because everybody in a relationship needs to experience that makeup s*x,” Newton said.
Staying dramatic as ever on his show, Newton enacted how those conversations usually go, and the couple ends up getting back together.
Reports Claim Stefon Diggs and Cardi B Will Get Back Together
Newton isn’t the only one who holds this belief. Although the reasoning might be different, Entertainment Tonight also reported that their breakup is likely temporary and they will get back together.
“It’s possible they get back together, and this could just be for right now,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “She is focused on her upcoming tour and family while figuring out their next steps.”
Apart from his breakup with Cardi, Diggs has a lot going on in his life. From controversies to legal troubles, the Patriots’ wide receiver is going to be busy during the initial stretch of the offseason.
