Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III chose the best time to play the best football of his career. Walker is set to become an unrestricted free agent next month, if the Seahawks don’t extend him before then.
The 25-year-old running back rushed for over 1,000 yards this season, and put together one of the best postseason runs by a running back in recent time. In Seattle’s postseason run, Walker rushed for 313 yards (averaging 4.8 yards per carry), four rushing touchdowns, and also had 104 receiving yards on 11 catches. In the last six games alone, he had 561 rushing yards, 210 receiving yards, and five rushing touchdowns.
For his efforts in last night’s 29-13 Super Bowl LX win over the Patriots, Walker took home Super Bowl MVP honors, rushing for 135 yards.
Kenneth Walker Made His Stance Clear In Wanting To Return Back To Seattle
If it were up to Kenneth Walker himself, he would stay in Seattle.
Leading up to the Super Bowl, Walker spoke to the media about a potential return and sounds like he wants to stay with the Seahawks following free agency.
“I’ve been here four years, so you know I’ve gotten to know a lot of stuff about Seattle, and you know a lot of the city, and I feel like they feel good about me as well,” Walker said. “So if it was my choice, though, I’d definitely stay.”
Walker winning a Super Bowl last night with Seattle should be more of a reason for him choosing to return back to Seattle. However, business is business, and walker could chase the bag in free agency.
Luckily for Seattle, they have around $74 million in cap space for the upcoming season, according to spotrac.com and could likely afford to match any offer he’s given.
