Arizona Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah Love recently addressed a topic that has followed him for years: speculation about whether he is on the autism spectrum.
During an appearance on the St. Brown Podcast, the former Notre Dame star spoke candidly about the whole situation and explained why many people have made that assumption.
The discussion began when Love was asked about an old video where he spoke around autism.
“A lot of people think that I am,” Love said.
Love went on to explain that his parents initially wondered the same thing when he was growing up because of early behaviors they observed during his childhood.
“My mom and dad thought I was growing up because I had OCD tendencies, That’s really what it was like. I wanted everything to be a certain way. Still. I am now less affected by it though, like everything in my place is organized like and if it’s not organized then I feel off like that’s pretty much the only thing.” Love explained.
He admitted that if things were not the way he wanted, then it can leave him feeling uncomfortable.
He also revealed that social interactions were challenging for him as a child.
“Growing up I had problems, like social problems,” he said. “I just wasn’t able to. I didn’t know how to connect with people socially.”
Those experiences contributed to why some people around him believed he might be on the spectrum.
“Honestly today, bro, probably on the spectrum,” Love said at the end of the conversation.
Cardinals Rookie Focused on Football
Regardless of labels or narratives, Love remains focused on his game.
He rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns during his final season with Notre Dame, and became one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2026 draft class.
The Cardinals surprised many when they selected him with the third overall pick. He later revealed that he knew that Arizona would likely draft him as he had a conversation with general manager Monti Ossenfort shortly before the event.
Since arriving in Arizona, he has embraced every opportunity available to him. He recently stated that he would happily contribute as a kick returner if needed.
For now, Love’s openness has offered fans a deeper look into the person behind the helmet as he prepares for his first season in the NFL.
