Former NFL WR Defends Terrion Arnold After Lions Release Him Amid Alleged Kidnapping, Assault Charges

Terrion Arnold probably went through an emotional roller coaster on June 29, 2026, after he received some good news on his alleged assault and kidnapping charges, followed by the heartbreaking news of his release from the Detroit Lions. The news of his release hit Arnold after the court set a $1,000,000 bond.

Talking about Arnold’s situation during Tuesday’s episode of Speakeasy, Emmanuel Acho and T.J. Houshmandzadeh shared their very different perspectives. While Acho bluntly said that he doesn’t feel sorry for the former Alabama star at all, Houshmandzadeh said he hopes Arnold gets another opportunity to play in the league.

“He felt like he went and got the people that got him. And I’m sure I’m sure once he realizes it wasn’t them people, I would hope he had some type of remorse,” Houshmandzadeh said.I don’t know how he grew up, but if somebody take my stuff and I call the police and they don’t get it, I’m going to get it.  I’m going to get it. I’m going to get it at 25. I’m going. That’s just being honest. Anybody that know me. At 25.

“If I felt like they were really the people at 25, anybody that knows me knows for a fact me and my homies, we going to get it. They know that. Now me today, no. Me five years ago, maybe. It’s just when you grow up in that type of lifestyle, that’s all you know. And I don’t know how Terry and Arnold grew up. But the 25-year-old TJ, I’m going to get that. And anybody that knows me, you could just… I just look like they think that I just be talking. But the guys that I grew up, they know, they know what I do. And I’m not proud of that.”

Houshmandzadeh did add that what Arnold did was ultimately wrong.

Nick Saban Vouches For Terrion Arnold’s Character Amid Alleged Kidnapping, Assault Charges

Terrion Arnold was part of Nick Saban’s last team at Alabama during the 2023 college football season.

Arnold has a special relationship with the Saban family, be it with Nick’s sister Kristen, who even attended the Alabama Pro Day to support the former Lions CB, or with Ms. Terry, who has been seen cheering for the ex-Crimson Tide star on the sidelines.

Saban wrote a letter to the Florida Judge who set a $1,000,000 bond for Arnold, in which he wrote:

“I write this letter because of the exceptional character I witnessed in Terrion Arnold over the more than six years I have known him. I first met Terrion when he joined my program in 2021. From the beginning, he stood out – not only because of his athletic ability, but because of who he was off the field. Based on my experience with Terrion, I’ve always believed he leads with genuine care for the people around him.”

Arnold spent three years with the Crimson Tide during his college career. While he redshirted in 2021, he played fully for the next two seasons.
