The Cleveland Browns quarterback competition just got some new perspective from one of the most popular insiders of the franchise, Mary Kay Cabot.
As the voluntary camp wraps up with Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel fighting for the starting spot, the Browns insider shared that the veteran quarterback finished the training with an edge over the former Colorado star.
Cabot then wrote that the Browns should name the veteran QB as QB1 as Watson had the edge over Sanders in the voluntary training camp and is on track to potentially win the QB1 role for the 2026 NFL season.
Fans didn’t take kindly to the view.
“MKC, how can you say that without the practices with the brand new draft class? Deshaun has had 4 years. Nothing. SS #2 6 games. And was exciting. Bond, Fannin, Judkins. Awesome. I’d rather see shadeur play. We know what we have in DW,” one fan reacted.
“Totally disagree. 1) he is part of the past; 2) he is a pariah; and 3) he sucks. For the love of all that is holy, you couldn’t be more off base, geezus,” another fan wrote.
“Sometimes I wonder if this is a parody account. They played catch for a week and we are doing this? I am not Shedeur fan but wow. But she speaks for the Haslam’s so I guess that is where we are at,” another fan added.
“Sources say? Who’s your source? I wish you’d retire, out with the old and in with the new. Fans are so sick of Cleveland Media all you do is lie, Doesnt seem like any of you played in any sport when you were young. Who’s paying all of you to spew this B.S. ?” another fan questioned.
“Is Mary Kay the Cleveland version of Dianna Russini, except instead of a coach it’s actually Deshaun Watson?” another fan said.
”You really hate Shedeur… it’s ok to say it. You pounded the table for Dillon Gabriel all last year over Shedeur as well. You want anyone at QB for Cleveland but Shedeur, for some reason,” another fan added.
Former NFL Player Makes Thoughts Clear on Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders’ QB Competition
Breiden Fehoko reacted to Mary Kay Cabot’s report of Deshaun Watson emerging as the one with edge over Shedeur Sanders for the QB1 role ahead of 2026 NFL season.
Fehoko wrote that Shedeur was never getting the starting job in 2026 as it was always Watson’s when he was healthy.
The former NFL player even added that Kevin Stefanski, who fans hate for not handling things well with Sanders, did the former Colorado star justice as he could’ve gone back to Gabriel after he got healthy.
“Stefanski knew DG would be on the roster solidified this year so he gave Shedeur that chance to start and get some film knowing this very scenario would unfold right now,” Fehoko said.
Sanders started seven games in the 2026 season and ended it with an overall record of 4-3.
