2025 Heisman finalist and Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia surprisingly didn’t find any takers in the 2026 NFL draft. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on a three-year deal as an undrafted free agent.
Baltimore invited Pavia to the rookie minicamp and decided to hand him a full contract before even a tryout. The 24-year-old quarterback joins Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley in the Ravens’ signal-caller room. Apart from Pavia, the Ravens have also signed quarterback Joe Fagnano as an undrafted free agent.
According to multiple sources, Pavia didn’t strike anything other than the required three-year deal required to comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement in place. This means no signing bonus and no guaranteed salaries. His potential base salary for the 2026 season is $885K.
Baltimore has managed to avoid spending any amount of guaranteed money while also having a Heisman finalist that they can look at during the minicamp before deciding to invest in him. As for Pavia, after becoming the first Heisman finalist to go undrafted since 2014 (Jordan Pryor), it’s for him to make this opportunity with Baltimore count.
Diego Pavia NIL Earnings
Before coming to the NFL, Diego Pavia was a controversial quarterback with high upside at Vanderbilt. He almost led them to the College Football Playoff before declaring for the draft.
During his final season at Vanderbilt, Pavia reportedly earned around $2.5 million in NIL compensation. This places him among the highest-paid college football players. His earnings came through a mix of endorsements, brand deals and collective-backed agreements tied to his on-field performance.
It’s important to note that the Commodores quarterback turned down over $4 million deals in favor of staying at Vanderbilt.
The Ravens quarterback has a partnership in place with several brands, including Austermiller Roofing, TruGreen, Cheetah Clean Auto Wash, Slim Chickens, and Autopro of Nashville.
Now in the NFL, he’ll be potentially earning much less.
Had Pavia been drafted in the first round, he would have enjoyed guaranteed money. Pavia had a really good final season with the Commodores, throwing 29 touchdown passes and completing 70.6 percent of his pass attempts.
Size was a major issue why Pavia didn’t get any suitors in the NFL draft. Moreover, his off-field behaviour was also reportedly a concern among NFL teams. As a result, Pavia now faces a stern test to become Ravens QB3 out of training camp.
