Davante Adams’ Los Angeles Rams took on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in the NFL Divisional Round matchup. The Bears had their fair share of struggles in the first quarter, but managed to tie the game before halftime.
In the second half, both teams were more evenly matched. However, the Rams suffered a setback with Adams picking up an injury. The star wide receiver got injured in the fourth quarter.
He was hit by Tyrique Stevenson and Tremaine Edmunds and struggled to get back up. After a while, when he did manage to get up, he went directly into the blue medical camp, sending shockwaves across the Rams fanbase.
Fortunately, the shock was short-lived as it turned out to be a momentary setback. Nearly 20 minutes later, it was reported that Adams was coming back on the field.
As for his performance in the game, Adams was highly ineffective throughout the first half. In fact, he had no receptions when the game was in the third quarter. At the time of his injury, he had caught just one pass.
Despite having an off day on the field, Adams’ presence can’t be underestimated. He poses a constant threat in the red zone, even when he’s not having a good outing. That’s why his injury scare shocked the Rams fans for a while.
In case Adams couldn’t make it back on the field, it’d have become a huge problem for the visiting team. Although they have strong backup options, not having the primary receiver on the field during a Divisional Round game wouldn’t have been ideal.
Puka Nacua, Xavier Smith, Konata Mumpfield, and Jordan Whittington are the other options available to the Rams at that position.
Bears vs Rams Went into Overtime
At the end of regulation time, both teams were tied at 17. Caleb Williams had done well with his 23 of 42 for 258 yards and two touchdowns, but his performance has been eclipsed by the three interceptions he has thrown.
Matthew Stafford has had a relatively quiet game with 20 of 42 for 258 yards and no touchdowns. Stafford has underperformed in the past when the weather has been extreme. In fact, he has only won one of 10 games in extreme weather conditions.
But the Rams have a strong roster with players capable of stepping up whenever required. With that strength, they closed the game 20-17 in overtime, defeating the Bears in their home and qualifying for the Conference Championship.
